OUR JOURNEY

TAAMARA is a project that is very dear to our heart. Being raised in a green rural setup, migrating to browner urban pastures for a livelihood was more out of compulsion than a choice. And after having made a living in the city for a couple of decades, we felt it was now time to rewind the clock. We had a strong urge to revisit our childhood memories, live a minimalistic life sans luxury and be one with nature once again. We took our first step towards this dream by setting up an organic dairy farm in Wayanad with the help of a local agriculturist (also a relative) in 2018. We also dabbled in organic farming with a small patch of agricultural land for some time before we came up with the idea of having a farm-stay close by, and that is how Taamara came into existence. Subsequently, a lot of thought and effort has gone behind converting this house into a dream vacation home for us.

Our primary objective is to keep the greenery, natural ventilation and pockets of lung spaces intact with a minimalistic, eco-friendly and sustainable approach in order to maintain the sanctity of the place. We have made a humble effort to reduce our carbon footprint by minimizing luxuries such as air-conditioners and energy-intensive appliances, judiciously using natural and locally available resources, avoiding plastics, adopting rain water harvesting, segregating and disposing waste responsibly, to name a few. We are still in the process of understanding and upgrading to more energy-efficient solutions with each passing day. At Taamara, we wish to provide a wholesome and holistic experience to our guests along with our distinct touch of hospitality. We believe in conscious living and expect our guests to abide by this as well, so as not to disrupt the harmony and ecological equilibrium in the surroundings.
